Pumpkin Carving ~ Sat, Oct 28, '17

On Saturday, October 28, Evins Mill hosts its annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. With adult participation in mind, each couple is given at check-in one already cleaned-out pumpkin - the canvas for their creative designs. Pumpkins will come in similar shapes and sizes but are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

From room check-in at 3:00 to a social hour at 6:00, guests will have ample time to carve their pumpkins, which will then be prominently displayed at the Main Lodge before dinner. The guest with the most creatively carved pumpkin as judged by our staff wins a complimentary night stay at the resort on any Enchanted Night.

Chef Evans has designed a fall-themed menu to compliment the occasion...

Calfkiller Beer Tasting ~ Sat, Aug 12, '17

Calfkiller Brewery, based in nearby Sparta, Tennessee, is back at Evins Mill by popular demand for an encore performance on Saturday, August 12. Beginning at 6:00, the brothers Sergio of Calfkiller Brewing Company will, in a setting as irreverent as it is beautiful, sample their products and share their story.

Well-known for "unparalleled drinkability, paradoxically balanced by uncompromised complexity," Calfkiller beer has attracted a devoted following among micro-brew enthusiasts and beer lovers throughout Tennessee.

The tasting will be paired with an assortment of appetizers and be followed by a festive and abundant buffet dinner, served at 7:00 and prepared by our own Chef Evans, who has attracted a following of his own, and who has designed a menu to compliment the tasting...

Bluegrass Cookout ~ Sat, Jul 1, '17

On Saturday, July 1, 2017, the town of Smithville hosts the Fiddlers' Jamboree & Craft Festival, one of country's premier bluegrass music competitions. Just a few minutes from the Dekalb County Courthouse, where the hoedown takes place, Evins Mill is a convenient springboard for the festival - as well as a cool escape from the heat, and a relaxing destination for great meals and overnight accommodations.

To that end, the resort is hosting its own annual Bluegrass Cookout from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. that same Saturday. Appetizers are available as early as 6:00 p.m. As always, guests are invited to arrive early and enjoy a stroll to Carmac Falls or a game of pool at Cortland Hall. Goat Cheese Tasting ~ Sat, Jun 24, '17

We're big fans of Harmony Lane Farm & Creamery. Less than five miles from Evins Mill, it produces some of the best cheese around and is a major source of the cheese we serve. As such, we're excited to host our first Harmony Lane Cheese Tasting - on Saturday, June 24.

The event actually begins with a 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. tour of Harmony Lane Farm and is followed by 6:00 social hour at Evins Mill, when Julie & Chris David of Harmony Lane will sample their products and share their story.

Chef Evans will incorporate Harmony Lane Goat products not only into the hors d'oeuvre selections night but into the dinner service as well...
