On Saturday, August 18, Evins Mill continues its "Music at the Mill" series with its second concert of 2018, featuring accomplished artists Brenda Russell & John Heinrich. 

In addition to performing original songs at the world famous Blue Bird Cafe, Brenda has sung at special event venues across Tennessee, frequently backed up by headline bands at landmark locations, including Union Station, Hermitage Hotel and Belle Meade Mansion. More than a vocalist, Brenda plays trombone with the Franklin-based Five Points Swing Band and has performed with the Nashville Jazz Workshop. 

For his part, John plays multiple instruments, including clarinet, dobro, flute, alto sax, bari-sax & steel guitar, and is a much sought-after session musician. He's also a sought after live performance musician, touring with legendary Country R&B artist Ronnie Milsap. John has also toured with country artist TJ Shepherd and and played on many of his albums.

Bluegrass Cookout ~ Sat, Jul 7, '18

On Saturday, July 7, 2018, the town of Smithville hosts the Fiddlers' Jamboree & Craft Festival, one of country's premier bluegrass music competitions. Just a few minutes from the Dekalb County Courthouse, where the hoedown takes place, Evins Mill is a convenient springboard for the festival - as well as a cool escape from the heat, and a relaxing destination for great meals and overnight accommodations.

To that end, the resort is hosting its own annual Bluegrass Cookout from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. that same Saturday. Appetizers are available as early as 6:00 p.m. As always, guests are invited to arrive early and enjoy a stroll to Carmac Falls or a game of pool at Cortland Hall. Early or not, come with an appetite, for the menu is expansive...
