While we usually promote Evins Mill as a place for adults, business groups and special events, the fact is it's a pretty cool place for kids too. To that end, from this Fri, Jul 26 to Sun, Aug 4 as part of our Back-to-School Special, it is also complimentary for high school age children and younger.

For families seeking some local adventure before the school year begins, Evins Mill offers a variety of family-friendly activities, including...
  • self-guided hikes to the overlooks and base of Carmac Falls
  • lawn games, including corn hole, ring toss, horse shoes and ladder golf
  • game hall, including billiards, ping pong, darts and foosball

Bluegrass Cookout ~ Sat, Jul 6, '24

On Friday & Saturday, July 5 & 6, the town of Smithville hosts the 53rd Annual Fiddlers' Jamboree & Craft Festival, one of country's premier bluegrass music competitions. Just a few minutes from the Dekalb County Courthouse where the hoedown takes place, Evins Mill is a convenient springboard for the festival - as well as a cool escape from the heat - and a relaxing destination for great meals and overnight accommodations.

To that end, the resort is hosting its own annual Bluegrass Cookout from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. that same Saturday. Appetizers are available as early as 6:00 p.m. Guests are invited to book a room or make reservations for dinner-only. Whether you stay over or come just for dinner, come with an appetite, for great food and a tasty slice of Americana music.

Mother's Day Brunch ~ Sun, May 12, '24

Evins Mill is hosting its annual Mother's Day Brunch on Sunday, May 12. The buffet, carving & desserts stations are available from 10:30 to 1:30, with seatings scheduled in half hour intervals. 

Luncheon attire is "dressy casual," though we invite guests to bring a change of clothes and stick around should they want to hike to Carmac Falls. Hiking shoes or not, don't forget your appetite, for as always the menu is extensive...

Calfkiller Beer Tasting ~ Sat, Apr 20, '24


The boys are back in town - that is, the boys of Sparta-based Calfkiller Brewery. On Saturday, April 20, 2024, the ever engaging Brothers Sergio, and if we're lucky their better halves, will sample their suds and share their story.

Well-known for "unparalleled drinkability, paradoxically balanced by uncompromised complexity," Calfkiller beer has attracted devotees among a variety of constituencies, including our guests, micro-brew enthusiasts, and beer lovers throughout the known universe.

The tasting will be paired with an assortment of appetizers served at 6:00, followed by a festive buffet dinner served at 7:00. Prepared by our own culinary savants with devotees of their own, many entrees, sides and even desserts will incorporate Calfkiller beer. The menu will be will be smoke inspired as a kickoff to the grilling season.
