On Friday, October 31, Evins Mill hosts its annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. With adult participation in mind, each couple is given at check-in one already cleaned out pumpkin - the canvas for their creative designs. Pumpkins will come in similar shapes and sizes but are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

From room check-in at 3:00 to a social hour at 6:00, guests will have ample time to carve their pumpkins, which will then be prominently displayed at the Main Lodge before dinner. The guest with the most creatively carved pumpkin as judged by our staff wins a complimentary night stay at the resort on any Enchanted Night.

Chef Evans has designed a fall-themed menu to compliment the occasion... 

Appetizers
  • a variety of deviled eggs, cheese & homemade pickles
Soup
  • butternut squash bisque
Salad
  • roasted beets, chef grown greens & toasts pumpkin seeds
Entrees
  • Calfkiller beer-braised beef short ribs or 
  • citrus-braised duck breast w/ fresh cranberry relish
Sides
  • root gratin & braised local mustard greens
Desserts
  • pumpkin & spice creme brulee or
  • apple cider sorbet
The overnight package for two guests includes one night's stay, pumpkin carving, appetizers, four-course dinner and a hearty breakfast and is $290 to $350 depending on the room reserved. For day-trippers, pumpkin carving, appetizers & four-course dinner is $60/person.
