Music at the Mill ~ Sat, Aug 18, '18


On Saturday, August 18, Evins Mill continues its "Music at the Mill" series with its second concert of 2018, featuring accomplished artists Brenda Russell & John Heinrich. 

In addition to performing original songs at the world famous Blue Bird Cafe, Brenda has sung at special event venues across Tennessee, frequently backed up by headline bands at landmark locations, including Union Station, Hermitage Hotel and Belle Meade Mansion. More than a vocalist, Brenda plays trombone with the Franklin-based Five Points Swing Band and has performed with the Nashville Jazz Workshop. 

For his part, John plays multiple instruments, including clarinet, dobro, flute, alto sax, bari-sax & steel guitar, and is a much sought-after session musician. He's also a sought after live performance musician, touring with legendary Country R&B artist Ronnie Milsap. John has also toured with country artist TJ Shepherd and and played on many of his albums.

Bluegrass Cookout ~ Sat, Jul 7, '18

On Saturday, July 7, 2018, the town of Smithville hosts the Fiddlers' Jamboree & Craft Festival, one of country's premier bluegrass music competitions. Just a few minutes from the Dekalb County Courthouse, where the hoedown takes place, Evins Mill is a convenient springboard for the festival - as well as a cool escape from the heat, and a relaxing destination for great meals and overnight accommodations.

To that end, the resort is hosting its own annual Bluegrass Cookout from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. that same Saturday. Appetizers are available as early as 6:00 p.m. As always, guests are invited to arrive early and enjoy a stroll to Carmac Falls or a game of pool at Cortland Hall. Early or not, come with an appetite, for the menu is expansive...

Kenny's Cheese Tasting ~ Sat, Jun 23, '18


We're big fans of Kentucky-based Kenny's Cheese, which produces some of the best cheese around, is a major source of the cheese we serve, and is a favorite among our guests and staff alike! As such, we're pleased to host our first Kenny's Cheese Tasting on Sat, Jun 23.

The event begins with a 6:00 p.m. social hour, when Kenny's Cheese proprietors Kenny & Barbara will mix and mingle with guests, share the story of their farm, and sample a variety of their cheeses. A festive, Kenny's Cheese-inspired dinner will follow and will feature....

Mother's Day Brunch ~ May 13, '18


Evins Mill is hosting its annual Mother's Day Brunch on Sunday, May 13. Buffet, omelet, carving & desserts stations are available from 10:00 to 1:30, with seatings scheduled in half hour intervals. While brunch attire is "dressy casual," we invite guests to bring a change of clothes and stick around should they want to hike to Carmac Falls. Hiking shoes or not, don't forget your appetite, for as always the menu is extensive...

Calfkiller Beer Tasting ~ Sat, Feb 3, '18

Calfkiller Brewery, based in nearby Sparta, Tennessee, is back at Evins Mill by popular demand for an encore performance on Saturday, February 3. Beginning at 6:00, the brothers Sergio of Calfkiller Brewing Company will, in a setting as irreverent as it is beautiful, sample their products and share their story.

Well-known for "unparalleled drinkability, paradoxically balanced by uncompromised complexity," Calfkiller beer has attracted a devoted following among micro-brew enthusiasts and beer lovers throughout Tennessee.

The tasting will be paired with an assortment of appetizers and be followed by a festive and abundant buffet dinner, served at 7:00 and prepared by our own Chef Evans, who has attracted a following of his own, and who has designed a menu to compliment the tasting...
